I wanted silent operation from the moment it turns on lol I'm the exact same way, which is why I had to set my fan curves in BIOS. When it's running at default settings (before Argus Monitor that I use to control fans starts), it is annoying to me. It's at 85C now, I could probably get away with 75C. Although, I might be able to get it to work if I lowered the thermal throttle temp more. I have NH-P1 (Noctua's passive cooler) that I've been trying to justify installing but I can't in my main PC lol 7950x draws just a little too much power. So yeah pretty much what you said on how to get a quiet PC is what I did too and I love it. 105w eco still allows my CPU to reach into the 90s, making my U12A speed up I can use more current but temps remain relatively low. While 105W eco gave me about a +5% performance difference than just lowering the thermal throttle limit, I like the lowered thermal throttle temp. I tried the 65W eco, 105W eco, and also just lowered thermal throttle limit (all with -40 curve optimizer). If my memory and GPU support didn't have RGB, I wouldn't be able to tell my PC was even on. Then my GPUs rarely get above 30% duty cycle even when training deep learning models. Even when my CPU gets warm (and I'm delidded), the only thing that really starts making sound is the U12A fans, and my fan curve has the fan speed low and slowly ramping up to avoid drastic speed changes when the CPU temp spikes. Since my computer has nine case fans, I can run them at low speed. I have 7950x cooled with NH-U12A, my case is NZXT H7, and all of my case fans are either Noctua A12x25 or Arctic P14. I also use air and my PC is near inaudible. And I don't run any other intensive stuff but games on this PC. But when I'm gaming, I don't really care much about noise as long as it's not horribly loud, which it isn't. Of course, it's only quiet at idle or almost idle. It's not dead silent, of course, but it's very, very quiet, and I'm kind of sensitive to noise too: when it's running at default settings (before Argus Monitor that I use to control fans starts), it is annoying to me. The NH-D15 is running at 50%, which amounts to 850-900 RPM, and those Noctua fans are really quiet at those RPMs. Right now it's 28C in my room and my motherboard sits at 31C.įor the CPU I'm using the NH-D15, which is definitely an overkill for the 7700X which I even set to Eco mode to keep it cool. I only use A/C when they start hitting 35C. My current PC uses the Fractal Design Torrent, which has not the quietest fans at all, but it's so airflow efficient that fans running at 35% keep it cool on idle even in summer without A/C, where indoor temps creep above 30C. I never bothered with water cooling and manage to make it really quiet by simply using high quality fans, good airflow cases and low RPMs for low temps.
